Should the MMR vaccine be made compulsory?

Should the MMR jab be made compulsory?
Children should not be allowed to go to school unless they can prove they have had the MMR vaccine, a public health expert said.

The number of children being given the vaccine plummeted after research wrongly linked it to an increased risk of autism.

The drop in take-up has been blamed for measles outbreaks across the country and raised fears it could lead to an epidemic.

Should the MMR vaccine be made compulsory for children before they can attend school? Do you have any fears or concerns about letting your child have the MMR vaccine?

Philby says:
It's a worrying step to see people claiming should be taken that parents 'have to fall in line with official Government advice'. If the NHS Guru's cannot win the hearts & minds of parents with 'free choice' - then the case is 'not proven!'. Not sure that US advice is entirely consistant with that of the UK either.

Like many parents I am convinced that the MMR had a direct effect on my son who also has Aspergers. Separate vaccines should be made available to those who choose it.

I totally agree with stelleyelly, it is a government money saving tactic. My kids and grandkids had their jabs given seperately and they are fine. The increase in measles would not have happened if people had the option to decide when and what jab need be given. The system has worked fine so far so why alter something that works.

Over the years our National Health System has looked after us all quite well the innoculation of MMR is suspect and there is dout,I believe that the MMR is two stronge for some babies and should be given at a later age ie; 1 year old or 18 months.
Stop rail roading people to comply to Government red tape and GP payments, let people decide the time to innoculate their child.

It should not be made compulsory, every parent should have the right to decide what is best for their child. As a parent of a son with Aspergers, I strongly feel that the MMR jab influenced his condition. My eldest daughter had the jab before all the controversy came out, but my youngest daughter has not.

The MMR jab has a very high level of mercury and apart from that, there are some suggestions that the vaccination is cultured on aborted fetuses. *IF* that's true, then there is a moral issue as well as a medical one.

If it comes to it, I'd rather homeschool my youngest (who is 4 and starting school this year) than be bullied into the government's money saving tactics over the welfare of my child.

Absolutely, it protects your child, why would you not let your child be vaccinated?
