Limiting foreign players

Limiting foreign players

Fifa president Sepp Blatter is hoping that his '6 plus 5' proposal on foreign players is endorsed by the ruling body this week. The plan would limit the number of foreign players in each team to a maximum of five, a proposal that he hopes will be in place by 2012.

How will this affect your team?
Is the plan workable?

Just one stupid idea after another with Sepp
He has just showed how inept he is after his latest slavery quote concerning the Ronaldo/Man Utd/Real Madrid saga
How can the figurehead of FIFA be so out of touch with the feelings of the grass root supporters that see these lucky players earning in one week what it would take the normal working man five six or even seven years to earn
Stop sitting in the directors box Sepp and get amongst the real fans and listen to what they want for a change you just might learn something that would make some sense when you Blattered your mouth off

Mick East London says:
Top flight Football clubs are now business's, to be succesful to be able to compete and keep up with the top they need if they can afford the best players.
The fans love to see the best players, the premiership is now the largest, best, most watched around the world, virtually all the best players from europe and R.O.W play for teams in the premiership, and it's the most exciting. It has affected our national team but why for example do the top teams scan europe and R.O.W. for new youth talent to invest in? why not U.K? they must be a vast difference in the youth policies, training for there to be a gap in levels of talent only very few are hunted down in the U.K. in comparison.
Also there is a huge amount of jealousy coming from F.I.F.A. / E.U.F.A. and the likes of Mr S. Platter (Pardon the spelling haven't time to check)on the success of the U.K. premiership in comparison La Liga Etc; are now 2nd best.

i think it is a goood idea, clubs will simply have to find good home grown talent instead of constantly relying on foriegn players, and it would be nice to be able to support england and see them play quality football, as players are getting the experience and time on the pitch they need.

It is about time we had the balls (no pun intended) to stand up to the EU in defence of a situation which has eroded our footballing prowess. In the short term, reducing the numbers of foreign players may degrade the quality of football, especially in the Premiership, but the competitive nature of the game will inexorably raise the standard of home-grown talent, and more importantly, will lead to a stronger national side.
Of course there are other concerns for Blatter to address, but this is one which will have the best and most lasting impact on our game.

why does blatter not concern himself with inconsistant referees and scraping the waste of time off-side rule to make the game more free flowing than come up with stupid ideas that contravene law.if countries want to have this as a gentlemans agreement well thats up to them not blatter.

although i don't follow football, have we not got a full english team, we have our own talent, give them a chance, it costs the fans a fortune to watch a foreign player,

this comes down to one simple contradiction. they are trying their best to stamp out racism in football and then turning around and saying you can't play for a certain team because you are foreign. this is the 21st century. players should be able to decide who the would like to play for, not some geriatric who is living in the past.
why should one person from south america dictate how europe plays its game

Italy limits foreign players. I believe they have won the world cup a few more times than England?
Why do we need Blatter to point out the obvious?

To get beyond the quarter finals of any international tournament we must have a good pool of home produced players - obviously not the present case. The current batch of 'top' english players are clearly not good enough. Rupert Murdoch and greed has made the premiership what it is today. It has to change.
