The next general election

The next general election

Labour took a bashing in the local elections with the Conservatives moving further ahead of them in the opinion polls.

If there was a general election tomorrow, who would you vote for and why?

What Do You Think?

The only way labour can save there skin or even the tories if they take a masive cut in fuel tax or even take one tax instead of vat and tax as it is the double tax that makes it more expensive and if they promise to do things like this to get elected and dont carry it out once they are elected we as the public should be able to throw them out for breach of contract so Brown AND Cameron take note

I've nev er understood people voting green. It was explained to me as a group of people dancing around a tree naked because they're vegans and don't want to hurt any animals as they also have rights, suddenly a storm happens and the temperature drops to -25 and the snow starts, how long would it take for them to chop down the tree and start a fire.

Interesting to note that 13.6% vote for 'Other'. If other include UKIP, which I'm sure it does, then well done democracy! At last people are being empowered to use the ballot box and gain a voice.
At last weeks Eastleigh BC elections I spoke to a Lib-Dem councillor who was clear that the Tories were losing votes to UKIP because they were 'fudging' the EU question, in particular whether to have a referendum. Even though all parties included the decision to have referendum in their manifestos. He commented that 'we are very clear on Europe and we know UKIP are clear, which we respect. The Conservatives are not clear'
This situation is helping the Lib-Dems (in Eastleigh) as I suspect elsewhere. The Lib-Dems know this; so also the Europhiles within the Conservative Party as it will achieve the same result for them - full integration (the 'pillars') within the EU.
The Lib-Dem councillor noted that UKIP is trying to use the democratic process (he said) and taking votes from the Tories in the meantime. What people don't understand is the effect the EU has on day to day local politics and as a consequence the affect it has on peoples lives e.g CAP, Waste Regulations, VAT (an EU idea), H&S Work Act 1974 etc etc.
The late Gwyneth Dunwoody, Labour MP for Crewe and Nantwich understood this - she often challenged the House during her time as MP in EU debates. Does Mr Cameron understand this? If so why do we seem to be coming ever closer to losing control of our entire national identity and the right to govern ourselves?

What exactly is the difference between the new labour and the tories? NOT MUCH.
In 1997 I voted for New Labour, a chance for a Tony Blair to put the country on the right track! SO I THOUGHT!
What a bloody mess.

Gordon brown did a good job as chancelor, But I am afraid he lacks the charisma of Tony Blair, this is not to say I have a grievance with the party he represents, far from it, I am indebted to this party for a decent pension, free bus travel, winter allowance, and help with benefits. I would like to see a challenge for leadership, but will never vote for the oppostion, be it Tory, Liberal or others, People who are jumping on the bandwagon of persuasion to believe the Tories can govern better, should cast their minds back to the years of boom and bust, if nothing else. and also realise that one speech does not change an ordinary polotician to a great one. It may well be that Labour will not get a fourth term, the country has the right to choose, and we are all entitled to our opinions. but be sure to vote in the interest of the majority, and not a personal selfish, vendetta provoked by a rollercoaster of mid term complaining, which is the usual trait of our country.

I remember the pensions raiding making me put 15% more in to standstill. Why cant we raid civil servants and MPs funds the same way? I remember earning small bonuses but taking home less year on year through taxation. My children struggle to buy homes, if I help financially I am taxed on it.I am just an ordinary hard working father who has had enough of this shower. Read the word "Politics". Tics being a blood sucking leech the feeds on sheep. I think "Poli" in another language means "many"
David Cameron!!!!!!!!!!!! your mission should you accept it is to prove me wrong and dispose of these leeches and bring back the respect for hard working families.
