I am 75 and live out in a rural area and need a car. I run a 1996 diesel estate car which is my only means of transport for shopping and to visit my family. the car spends its life stop start running and still gives me 40 miles to gallon yet next year`s road tax for my car is going to increase by £100.

This government are probably the most incompetent, inept and dangerous in living memory. What have they achieved that benefits the indigenous population (answers on a postage stamp accepted)Economically a complete and utter failure we now all bear the brunt of their total failure in all areas. In the great debt ever as a nation and in many cases individuals trying to survive the PM thinks he has done well. The best thing he can do is apologise and go at the very earliest opportunity before he causes even more damage to our economy if that were possible.Government requires first class professionals whereas those in power are second class amateurs lurching from one crisis to another convinced they are the best things since sliced bread. They should for once, just once,be honest and admit they are abject failures and relieve us all of their presence.

We are fortunate to have Free Speach in this country. You ask what can WE do? For years I have made my voice heard by writing to my local Member of Pariament. The questions that I have asked has been passed on to the Minister responsible and he has replied, Or a question has been asked in the Houses of Parliament and a copy of the response by the Minister has been sent to me. We have the best open system int he world, we need to learn how to use it. If enough people write to their M.P. on a particular issue then something WILL be done about it. For example... This country didn't change from "English pounds" to the "Euro." because enough people did something about it! We have people power we must learn how to use it. WE ARE OVERTAXED. OUR POLICE ARE STUCK IN THE OFFICE WRITING REPORTS WHILST PEOPLE ON BIKES ARE PATROLING OUR STREETS, BUT DON'T HAVE THE POWER TO ARREST. GET THE BIKERS IN THE OFFICE AND THE POLICE BACK ON THE STREETS! THOUSANDS OF EXPERIENCED TEACHERS ARE TAKING EARLY RETIREMENT TO GET AWAY FROM UNCONTROLABLE KIDS, AND CONSTANT CHANGES BY GOVERNMENT. TEACHERS WERE WELL TRAINED TO TEACH, LETS LEAVE THEM TO GET ON WITH IT. TEENAGE CRIME ON THE INCREASE! MAKE THE PARENTS ACCOUNTABLE? MOST PROBLEMS HAVE SIMPLE SOLUTIONS. THIS GOVERNMENT THINKS ALL PROBLEMS WILL GO AWAY IF THEY THROW ENOUGH MONEY AT IT! SO WE PAY MORE AND MORE TAXES. THEY DON'T HAVE THE BRAINS OR THE GUTS TO INTRODUCE WORKABLE POLICIES. EXAMPLE. 'THE NHS.' GET RID OF CONTRACT SERVICES AND BRING BACK NHS MATRONS. THEY WILL MAKE SURE STANDARDS ARE MAINTAINED. TODAYS FINANCIAL CRISIS? BANKS SHOULD ASK THEIR CHIEFS TO REPAY THOSE HUGE ANNUAL BONUSES. THAT WOULD RETURN A LOT OF THE MISSING LIQUIDITY TO THE FINANCIAL MATKETS. HAD THOSE CHIEFS ACTED PROPERLY THEN THIS DISASTER WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. I COULD GO ON BUT HOPEFULLY YOU GET THE PICTURE! Tony Hall Retired 'Halifax' Branch Manager.

Everyone thinks the same about the budget but alot just keep quiet cause people think it dont make a difference.ITS ONE big joke. Fuel,Council tax, taxes altogether. Me personally have been waiting for a operation on my hip since 2002 yet The government give our money to those that wish to live/work here from abroad and then send it back to there families in that country when the NHS is in such a state. Its not the peoples fault who come to work here its the governments. While we working class work to our bones these MP are getting reduced taxes on second homes driving about in flash cars that would make a difference to the global warming effect. If there want us to cut carbon foot print MPs should be setting examples to us fellow tax payers. Why tax this country to death.

This budget reminds me of a desperate schoolboy, who hasnt done his homework and has to come up with something quickly. No planning, no research, no advice and definitely no thought. He probably spent more time deciding how to spend his expenses.
