What did you think of Darling's budget?

What did you think of Darling's budget?
Chancellor Alistair Darling delivered his second Budget on the 22nd of April at a time of economic crisis.

Darling has promised a Budget to speed economic recovery by protecting jobs and spreading prosperity.

Opening his Budget speech, Mr Darling warned that Britain faced the most serious global economic turmoil for more than 60 years.

The key points of the speech were:

- 50% tax rate for earnings over £150,000

- Growth forecast revised down

- Borrowing increased

- £15bn 'efficiency savings'

- Clawing back tax relief on top earners' pension

- £2bn help for young unemployed

- £1bn to boost housing market

- Car scrapping scheme

What did you think of the budget? Has it done enough to help you? Are you going to be better off? Are you going to be worse off? Will it have an adverse or positive effect on your finances?

These Bugets are not for us mere mortals we are really not in the equation we are only the means of keeping the establisment aflote .So that they can keep their hands in the HONEY pot they have to keep them there because they cant pull them out. This is shown as they keep on increaseing their salarys and pensions irispective of the situation . The never ending story .they are not public servants they are the ruleing classes we are mearly serfs and that includes the political party's and untill the people of Britain wake up to this fact it will continue . As for the rescue of the banks they are the ones who should be paying back all of the excess not increaseing taxes on the people .If the Government cut their spending on usless projects and salarys .and this includes local tax's on the rates and business premises we may get some where. Hospitals are a point the government has pumped millions into the NHS what has happened to it .If you look its gone in BIG salarys payments to staff and management And expencive cars and offices .The Manaement are more concerned about their pay and pension rights than the patient's .And this is true over the whole cover of public sector .You became a nurse Fireman Policeman council worker because the pay was lower but you where never sacked you where looked after, and received a good pension . Now its the other way round and they still want it all. Oliver Crowell is turning in his Grave.

This budget speech is mostly waffle conceiling the real effects of the budget on the taxpayer, particularly the small business sector.

Mrs. Caroline MacLeod says:
Where exactly are we borrowing this 175 billion from and how are we going to pay it back when they turn the knuckle screws on us Britains. Have you bought any Gold yet. It is important to get out of this recession or are you just sending us purposefully to the dogs because YOU CAN'T work out how to get us to succeed through this with your mind then? We are on a way to winning and will be there very shortly; not due to your giving up, but due to a network of people across the U.K. who think more about trying and our success than giving up and failing in the 1970's straight away. We are going to win. It is only a matter of time now. So you'd better do something to your budget to match that now, PLEASE!

Wot do i think of the buget !!!
The only thing that will get this country back on track is common sense and not just bummbling sentences from gereactrics (Get some young blood in there)the only reason people flock to this tiny country is the hidious hands outs Tahts most of the probelm were the moneys gone Scrap all benifits unless you are disabled with proper proof,no dole, work for the council would save 6-10 people digging one hole and taking 2 weeks (Every one Knows wot i mean !!!) if unemployed. till another job comes along like some parts of europe ? ,stop putting exstremists in our prisons were we still pay for them kick them out and ban for life if they dont like our country get out!!! I was proud to be british now
i embarrased so say.
Last of all cant put it all down be here all day
All so called MP's should not get such privliges unless they earn them like us bet they dont have the tax that those high earners do. help the small bussines they say let see it then all these insentives theres a brick wall at the end of them all, Been there,

The 50% tax figure was a masterstroke by the government. It's completely hidden the fact that ordinary people will be taxed more through the usual beer, cigs and petrol increases. And nobody noticed the true increase in income tax and national insurance.

The real increases will happen after the election thta Labour still hopes to win. The only thing we can be sure of is that MP's pay, pensions and expenses will be safe.

I'm sorry - I made an error in my previous comment.
The person on £150000 pa will pay a total of £49930 in tax and that is 18.4 times as much as the guy on £20000!
So, for only 7.5 times as much pay he will be paying 18.4 times as much tax !!!
"A fair society" my a....!

NEW LABOUR ? Forget it. This bunch is just as socialist as ever -their policies based on envy as they always were. They talk about "a fair society" but just look at the present income tax rates and ask yourself if they are REALLY fair.
Take two people with the same basic allowances - one earing £20000 a year, the other £150000. Both will have the same tax-free allowance of £6475 and will then pay 20% on the first £37400 (= £2705 tax) The person on £20000 pays no more but the other guy pays 40% on the rest (=£42450 !)
That means the first guy pays 13.5% of his income in tax, The other pays £30% in tax. So, for receiving 7.5 times the salary of the lower paid guy, he pays 15 times as much tax!!
Doesn't sound very fair to me! (I have no axe to grind as I'm a pensioner on far less than £20000 pa!)

Correction to previous post

To Sue,

You've got me wrong my Dear.

It was you who suggested people were silly.

I was merely pointing out what happened to bring this debacle about.

No I am not suggesting the Banks have no fault in this matter.

Some of these people need sorting out, BIG TIME, it's a pity this lame Government haven't the courage to do do it.

No I am not suggesting that Gordon Brown (the best chancellor we've ever had, F**** H***) changed the rules in all countries: but he allowed it here, that is my point.

By the way he didn't have to change it in America were all this started, he didn't have to, they had already done so, under the incredibly intelligent, Bush.

If you allow Rats in your home my Dear, they will steal your food.

Now do you get my point.

The scrapping of older cars is OK but do they not realise that people drive used cars because the devaluation on a car is so high.I have checked the car discounts over the past few weeks and you can get £2000 to £3ooo off medium family priced cars,ie;Astra to Mondeo, does any one expect these to be reduced any more if you scrap your car. I think not.The best way to help people "LIKE ME" is give a voucher for £2000 and let us get the best deal from what is on offer now and only cashable at point of sale with your old car. As for the rest of what the Government should do, cut the benefit scheme and don't pay any one more than £10000 a year. The only exception would be invalids, war wounded and mentaly disabled. I'am unemployed and have been for 12 years and NO I cannot claim any benefits and so the unemployment office don't help. The reason; your able to look after yourself and they don't have to and now I have just 2 years to my pension.
