Hugh Laurie - Biography

Rate: Hugh Laurie was born in Oxford and brought up by his mother, Patricia and his father, Ran who was an Olympic gold medal winner.

One of the first major acting roles for Hugh was in comedy classic, Blackadder, alongside Stephen Fry and Rowan Atkinson.

He's also been in loads of movies, although he's the type of actor that you don't usually notice - at the time he wasn't really top billing. But if you remember Sense and Sensibility, Maybe Baby or Stuart Little, you'll know why.

It was in 2004 that Hugh really hit the big time by landing the lead role of Dr Gregory House in the TV show called, erm, House. A massive success on both sides of the Atlantic, it's now in it's fifth year and it seems it's given him a whole new set of fans. Particularly women.

In 1998 Hugh popped up in an episode of Friends called The One With Ross's Wedding, Part Two.
