David Jason - Biography

Rate: We all know Del Boy managed to sell a lot of dodgy electrical gear over the years, but it was actually David Jason himself who started out by training as an electrician. He didn't carry on with the career decision, thankfully, but David White (as he was then known) decided to take to the stage, planning the roots of a long acting career.

Like we mentioned, probably his most famous role was that of Del Boy in BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses. And he should be pretty proud of himself - one of the Christmas specials managed to bag around 25 million viewers, something that seems every more unlikely to happy again in the age of digital television when everybody has hundreds of channels to choose from.

What happens when you cross a former electrician with a comedy legend, Ronnie Barker? Well, you get some classic British comedy, that's what! David Jason played the great role of Granville in Open All Hours. But it doesn't end there! Surely you remember The Darling Buds of May? He looked like he'd pilled on the pounds to take on the role of Pop Larkin alongside a young Catherine Zeta Jones for the ITV show.

Although it's clear Jason is one of the UK's favourite actors, it was proven in a poll naming him as ITV's favourite star. He also received a knighthood in 2005, the same year he married his partner, Gill Hinchcliffe. Bootiful!

David is a keen flyer, having passed his test to officially fly a helicopter.
