Courtney Love - Biography

Rate: Courtney Love was born in San Francisco, that city with all the hills and stuff. It's hard to picture a sweet little girl becoming somewhat of a rocker but that's indeed what has happened. Her parents split when she was young and she eventually went to live with her mother after she'd claimed Courtney's father had given her LSD.

In an early act of rebellion, Courtney emancipated herself from the folks and decided it would be a good idea to travel around the US, England and Ireland. After that she went back home to the US and worked as a stripper before getting her first lead vocal role with the band Faith No More. After a few more gigs with various bands she realised that it didn't seem to be working out and decided to go it alone.

Her first band, Hole, came together after Love placed an advert in a magazine in 1989. Being in the band led her to meet a few familiar faces, including Michael Stipe of R.E.M.

Courtney wasn't famous was she met Kurt Cobain, and neither was he. They met in 1990. When they ended up touring in Europe they became a couple and ended up getting married in Hawaii in 1992. Six months later they had their first child.

Kurt's body was found in 1994, four days before the release of Hole's new album. The case was eventually closed as a suicide.

In other random Courtney news, she was regularly pictured with British comedian Steve Coogan sparking rumours they were in a relationship. Or just sleeping with each other. But we never got confirmation of either, unfortunately.

It was reported that in 2006 she sold 25% of Nirvana's catalogue for $50million. So look out for bulging pockets next time you see her.
